Buddhism teaches us that happiness does not come from any kind of acquisitiveness, be it material or psychological. Happiness comes from letting go. In Buddhism, the impenetrable, separate, and individuated self is more of the problem than the solution.

Puerto Rican Sayings Tumblr

Here are 5 examples of Puerto Rican sayings:

  1. Como guineo en boca de vieja: literally translates to “like a banana in an old lady’s mouth” and means “to pass easily without force.”
  2. Me cago en ná: it’s a mild expression that means “dam!” or “shit!” Puerto Ricans say it when they forget something, do something incorrectly or simply things don’t come out as expected.
  3. Estar más perdido que un juey bizco: literally “to be more lost than a cross-eyed crab” and means clueless.
  4. Estar como sapo de letrina: literally translates to “like a toad in a latrine” and it is use to say that you are stuffed or full of food.
  5. Friendo y comiendo: means “right away, in a jiffy”

All these sayings are included in Jared Romey’s books: Speaking Boricua and Speaking Phrases Boricua.
